Similar to sports, being a good student is about mastering certain skills, not just academic tutoring. While each class has a different knowledge set and focus, the skills of being a good student are consistent. When a student masters these skills, they begin to grow as a student, and have higher academic performance.
School is different than what we remember, but being a learner isn't. Technology has been both a blessing and a curse. But the brain hasn't evolved much in the last few hundred years. Being able to understand how their brain works to make sense of information helps students to be more disciplined about what they are doing.
My goal is to provide students with the same guidance I provide athletes, to coach them to be their best possible self. By internalizing a belief in themselves, and developing the ability to overcome struggles, students take charge of owning responsibility for their path.
